The internship program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to integrate theory and practices From a practical standpoint. students gain valuable work experience, on-the-job training. and bare an opportunity to develop a professional networking base for the future. At the undergraduate level, students earn nine semester credit hours while ~rorkin~~ in the agency 40 how's' per week. The fall and spring semesters require the student to be in the agency approximately IS eveeks. The summer semester requires approximately 1 I weeks. The graduate level internship requires students to satisfy the same time commitment: however. master's and doctoral students earn six semester credit hours. The internship is an integral component of the Masten in Forensic Science (MSFS). Students spend a stunmer (6 credit hours) in a forensic setting, usually in a crime lab, between the lust and .-second years of instruction. This experience provides er iuraluable opportunity to develop specialized technical skilh, as well as understanding the operation of a forensic thcility. To ensure that the internship is a true Icaruing experience, students cannot use their present place of employment as the agency setting for their internship.
