The evaluation was based on five questions evaluating the understanding of the relationship of herbivores to range plants and evaluating the understanding oti health indicators on range grasses and woody species. Understanding oti control measures to woody plants were also evaluated. The Rangland Monitoring Workshop as well as the Prescribed Bum meeting series was evaluated with a retrospective post evaluation at the completion of the program. 86% of those surveyed strongly agreed the workshop was a good program. 14% agreed the workshop was a good program. 94% of participants felt that what they Teamed at the Prescribed Burn classes better prepared them to conduct prescribed bums and make land management decisions on their property. 100% of the participants of the Rangeland Monitoring Workshop reported that the program better prepared them to make range management decisions. Responses ranged from a high of 124% increase in the area of Teaming to evaluate your range based on health indicators and woody plant inventory, to a low of a 65% increase in knowledge on making the most out of the rainfall received. An average of 94% increase in knowledge was evident from the evaluation. 16 participants resumed evaluations for the Prescribed bum workshop series with an increase in knowledge of 32% overall. Producers indicated an increase in 31 % in understanding of the history of bums in Texas. An increase in 29% in fire weather conditions, and increase of 37% in understanding the difference in cool season -vs- warm season bums, an inaease of 26% in forage management before a bum, 35% increase in forage management after a burn, 34% increase in forage response from bums, 32% increase in understanding impact of bums on brush species, 29% increase in understanding of value of bums on reclamation of rangeland, 24% increas in understanding of value of bums to watersheds, 37% increase in understanding of measuring juniper leaf moisture, 3l% increase in understanding principles in measuring fuel moisture, 38% increase in understanding smoke management, and a 27% increase in understanding site preparation principles. 17 area landowners participated in the Rangeland Monitoring Workshop with an average overall increase in knowledge gained of 98%. Participants indicated improvements in knowledge in the following areas; Range Health 56%, Level I Monitoring, increased 127%, Level 2 Monitoring, increase of 109%, Level 3 Monitoring, increase of 105%, Animal Monitoring increased 86%. 83% of participants do not currently use a rangeland monitoring system. 67% indicate they will implement a rangeland monitoring system. The environmental impacts to teaming to understand and evaluate the health of native rangeland in Kerr County is critical to maintaining a healthy ecosystem and range site for future generations. New landowners that are moving to the Hill Country are very concerned about their teaming and understanding the correct management oti the properties they now own.
