Our reputation for truly original and unique products has spread and our marketing efforts have reached across south Texas and beyond. Our local customer base has remained strong and we find more and more visitors from farther and farther away. Our commitment is long tenn and our goal is to always find ways to improve. In this context, we have identified two changes we would like to propose for 2007. First, we would like to begin the Market on the 4th Saturday of March instead of the 4th Saturday in April. The April opening date puts us well after starting dates for other similar events and this change will expand the number of Market dates from 9 to 10 to directly benefit our vendors. Secondly, we would like to expand from Saturday-only to Saturday and Sunday for Memorial Day weekend. The Market's growth allows funding for overnight security and both vendors and customers have asked that we explore this possibility. And, based on this year's experience, there will be no conflict with Memorial Day Ceremonies as the official ceremony now occurs on the Monday holiday. Additionally, we would like to donate a bench for the Courthouse grounds. I had met with Glen Holecemp and the bench he suggested is very much like the existing ones. The only difference would be plaques on the bench; one, engraved 'Thanks Glenn, Kerr County Market Days," and approximately seven small plates with the names of Market vendors who are now deceased. The plaques would be similar to the ones on the bench at Main and Eari Garrett near KACC. As always, your advice on these proposals will be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and I will be available to present our proposed changes to Commissioners Court at whatever time you recommend. Sincerely, .r' i LuAcnn Anderson President KerrMarketDays.org
