2006 Child Service Board Year-End Report:
The board lost three members in 2006 and gained three new members.
The Rainbow Room (supply closet) was restocked and reorganized in March.
April was Child Abuse Awareness month -Commissioners Court passed a
resolution, blue ribbons were tied around courthouse trees, and a March 31St
kickoff event was held on courthouse grounds with speaker Fred Gamble from
Schreiner College.
The board did not meet from May to November due to board turnover and
scheduling conflicts.
Christmas gifts: Walmart gift cards were given to approximately 120 children.
Board members asked for donations and received an estimated $8,000. Kerr
County citizens gave so generously that we were able to double the gifts to
children, so instead of $25, each child received at least $50 in gift cards. Funds
not earmarked for Christmas gifts will be used for the children in the future.
Upwming plans/projects:
Review and audit of financial records by an outside source; report by April 2007.
Restock the Rainbow Room
Plan for Child Abuse Awareness Month (April)
Recruit new board members, set terms of current board members, appoint
board treasurer and other officers
Review board expenditures, discuss types of expenses board should pay
Plan fundraiser(s) for upcoming projects
Plan for Christmas 2007 -gifts for children, tri-county Christmas party
