Rationale for Mandatory Direct Deposit • There are no checks are lost or stolen internally • Payments reach employee's accounts the day the check is issued... even if employee is on vacation, out of town, sick, or unable to get to their financial institution • Many financial institutions offer free or lower cost checking for customers with direct deposit because it saves time and the cost of processing paper checks • Direct deposit can help avoid bouncing checks because the deposit is direct and on time • Most employers (including Kerr County) will deposit employees checks a day early if the regular payday falls on a holiday • Reduces County Cost for supplies required for paper checks, i.e. paper, ink, TIME
