WHEREAS In January, 2005, the Kerrville State Hospital was closed to civil Commitments by the Department of State Health Services (DSHS), thereby denying access to local beds for needy persons within the Hill Country's 19 County catchment area; and WHEREAS State Rep. HarrVey Hilderbran has introduced Legislation, HB 654, to enable the DSHS to contract with a community mental health center to operate a crisis stabilization unit on the grounds of the Kerrville State Hospital; and WHEREAS The Hill Country Community MHMR Center since its formation in September 1997 has served the citizens of Kerr County, providing quality mental health services focused on the recovery of the individual, and has expressed a desire to contract and operate said 16 bed psychiatric hospital; Now therefore be it RESOLVED That Kerr County Commissioners' Court, by adoption of this Resolution expresses its stppori for legislative approval of HB654; and be it further RESOLVED That copies of this Resolution be forwarded to State Rep.
