RE: Cell Phones
Each Elected Official and Department Head is requested to furnish this office with a list of
individuals within that office who requires a cell phone in order to be able to conduct County
business. Such list should include the average number of minutes per month that each such
individual uses, or would use, in the conduct of County business.
Please provide this information not later than October 25, 2007.

CELL PHONE PLAN
All cell phones on which county business is conducted, other than the Sheriff s Office
which are on separate contract, will be on one contract.
Features:
1. Individual phones can be added (or dropped) at a specific per phone, per
month charge.
2. Initial block of minutes will be applicable to the entire pool of phones and
numbers - no specific allocation of minutes to individual phones or
departments.
3. Initial blocks of minutes will be subject to adjustment - up or down -
during aninitial trial period - 60 to 180 days.
4. After stabilizing the number of minutes in the block, additional minutes
could be added in increments of 100 minutes (or possibly other increment)
for a specific monthly charge.

6. Phones which are added to the program for users having individual
contracts (existing) with Five Star will be allowed to cancel the existing

Use of cell phones to conduct county business
(except Sheriff s Department personnel)
All elected officials and county employees, other than Sheriff s Office personnel, who require
a cell phone to conduct county business will be issued a cell phone for that purpose.
Effective December 1, 2007, Kerr County will not reimburse any elected officials or county
employees for cell phone use.
Any elected official or county employee having a personal cell phone with service provided by
Five Star Wireless will have the opportunity to cancel or modify the existing personal cell
phone contract with Five Star to make any necessary changes occasioned by discontinuing use
of a personal cell phone for county business.
Five Star Wireless has also just approved a new program for personal/family cell phone use
for county employees which has special discount(s) or incentive(s).
