Dear Commissioner Oehler,
For over ten years, Kerr County Emergency Services District No.1 (and its predecessor,
Ingram Fire. Board) had the Kerr County Auditor annually review the District's financial
records and prepare a report which the District would then review and forward to the
County Court. Upon completion of his review of our 2006 records, Mr. Tomlinson
pointed out that. state law requires that the County Court order such audit (see attached E-
mail). At our last meeting, our. ESD officers voted to ask Kerr County Court to request
that the County Auditor continue to perform this audit at the conclusion ofihe ESD fiscal
year. in September.
`"`~' The advantages for using the County Auditor rather than a third party are an increased
confidence in the audit for the County Court,. greater protection to the volunteer officers
of the ESD, and increased trustfrom the "r"~F3.taxpay~rs that their taxes were spent
responsibly.
