Supply Company Carolina Biological Supply Company began in 1927 ~ when Thomas E. Powell, Jr., an Elon College professor who collected natural specimens for his class, discovered that he could sell surplus items to other teachers and professors. Dr. Powell soon realized that a team approach, with his company providing the centralized collection and distribution of educational materials, would free teachers to make better use of their time in • We are afamily-owned company in business for 80 years -based in Burlington, North Carolina. • We are dedicated to serving science and math educators worldwide. • We continue to seek out and work with the most innovative partners around the world. caRo~ina w.fW.crs,. ~.~„ r ,~;~ o- ~fh Contact Information Allan Morrison Carolina Biological Supply Company 2700 York Road Burlington NC 27215 Phone: 336.538.6259 Email: allan.morrison@carolina.com caRo~ina WOrGI-C~Yff SfrpQoff,Or SCiC.K b MJfh CARS LInA World-Class Support for Science er Math Carolina Biological Supply Company, afamily-owned company based in Burlington, North Carolina, has been serving science professionals worldwide for more than 80 years. Our vision is through innovation, quality, and service to be the most valued teammate of every science educator. Carolina Biological offers a diverse collection of anatomical specimens and is recognized as a leading supplier of products for students and teachers of the biological sciences. As a proven and accepted part of their professional training, pre-medical, pre-veterinary, and pre-dental students utilize animal cadavers to help them master the skills required for their chosen careers. Access to .carefully prepared, high-quality animal cadavers gives these students valuable, hands-on learning opportunities and relevant experience with anatomical structures, functions, and surgical techniques. It is worth noting that veterinary students use animal cadavers to practice and perfect procedures that will ultimately be used to rehabilitate and treat other animals. In order to serve the growing market for properly euthanized, anatomically prepared vertebrates such as cats, Carolina Biological is actively seeking additional sources for these specimens. Carolina Biological does not deal in live cats and will only purchase specimens from licensed shelters after the animals have been properly euthanized. The USDA regularly inspects our facility and our records, and we take great pride in explicitly complying with all appropriate regulations. Our mission is to redirect, for educational purposes, animal cadavers that would otherwise be incinerated, offered to a rendering service, or placed in county landfills. We understand the disposal method of the cadavers is costly to the animal control shelters and humane societies that must pay for these services. By participating in our program, shelters and humane societies gain a new source of revenue that could be used to offset euthanasia expenses, to pay for spay and neuter programs, or to purchase needed supplies and equipment. Each year communities are forced to spend taxpayer dollars trying to cope with the consequences of the overpopulation of cats. It is our hope that we can achieve a mutually beneficial arrangement for all parties. Any county animal control shelter or humane society participating in our program can choose to cancel with written notice at their discretion.
