This year has been very successful, including the two changes initiated -the March start-up date and the two-day Memorial Day Market. With the fourth Saturday in March as our Opening Day we get a good start on the gardening especially for all types of plants, both vegetable season and this year had a great vendor turnout, '1 and ornamental. The two-day Memorial Day Market was extremely successful and was coordinated so as to avoid any conflict with other Memorial Day Observance Ceremonies. We also worked with the Sheriffs Office to hire off duty deputies to provide overnight security; Warrant Sergeant Behrens and Deputy Schultz were extremely helpful in arranging security and provided outstanding service. As a brief overview of the 2007 season, we have accepted 185 vendor applications to date, an approximate 9% increase over 2006. We also continue to have good participation from local non-profit organizations, including K'Star, Freeman-Fritts Animal Welfare Society, Cailloux Humane Society, Hill Country Master Gardeners, several church groups and a Giri Scout Troop. We maintain strict adherence to our original criteria for truly original and unique products and believe this standard continues to enhance the reputation of Market Days. As in past years, our local customer base remains strong and we find we have more and more visitors from across the state and beyond. Our commitment is long term and our goal is to always conduct an event which benefits our community and enhances the image of Kerr County as a tourist destination. Based on the successes of 2007, we request the 2008 Usage License be implemented with no changes. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and I will be available to present our proposal to Commissioners Court at the November 13 meeting. Sincerely, nn Anderson President Attachment KerrMarketDays.org Attachment KERB COUNTY MARKET DAYS 2008 SCHEDULE MARCH 22 APRIL 26 MAY 24-25 JUNE 28 JULY 26 AUGUST 23 SEPTEMBER 27 OCTOBER 25 NOVEMBER 22 DECEMBER 20
