The Hill Country Shooting Sports Center, Inc. was formed in ?000 as a replace ment facility for the Kerr County 4-H Shotgun Program; WHF,REAS, The I-Till Country Shooting Sports Center, Inc. has entered into a long term contract to provide facilities for USA Shooting, the National Governing Body for Olympic Shooting Sports; WHF,REAS. "l~he Hill Country Shooting Sports Center, Inc. was designated as an United States Olympic 'Draining Site in ?006; WHEREAS. The Hill Country Shooting Sports Center, Inc. hosted the ?006 World Cup Shotgun Match which drew 350 athletes from 48 nations and made a total economic impact to the community of approximately $2.1 million dollars; WHEREAS, The Ilill Country Shooting Sports Center, Inc. hosted several other Olympic matches during 2006 & 2007 and will host the Olympic Shotgun Trials in March of ?008. the 2008 World Cup Shotgi.m Match, and the 2008 Fall Selection Shotgun Match with an untold economic impact for the community; WHEREAS. The Hill Country Shooting Sports Center, Inc. is currently building additional facilities that will enable the community to host events in all Olympic shooting disciplines. including 10 meter air rifle & pistol, 25 meter pistol. 50 meter rifle ~ pistol. upon completion, the facility will be the only venue of its type in the western hemisphere; WHEREAS, With a facility of this nature, the Hill Country Shooting Sports Center, luc, will bid for the World Shooting Championships which consists of all l 5 Olympic shooting disciplines and will draw approximately 2,500 athletes from around the world. The total economic impact to the community will exceed $ I S million dollars from this event alone. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that on this day, the 14`" of January 2008, the Kerr County Commissioners Court unanimously supports the Hill Country Shooting Sports Center, Inc. in its efforts to build a world class Olympic shooting facility and unanimously approves the Kerr County Judge., Pat Tinley to sign a request to the Governor"s Texas Enterprise Fund to help fund the completion of this project.
