ISSUES AND CONSIDERATIONS:
Boerne Falls Subdivision is located in extreme southeast Kerr bordering Kendall County.
Currently this area is within emergency service area (ESN) 858. Responders are Kerr County
Sheriff's Department, Comfort VFD, and Kerrville EMS MED 3.
The question for Kerr and Kendall County authorities is: Is this the best solution for future
residents of Boerne Falls?
Below is a list of responding agencies capable of responding to this area. Associated with each
is the distance and drive time from that agency to the closest boundary of Boerne Falls
Subdivision. The drive times are actual with road conditions and speed limits dictating response
times. Emergency vehicle response times will vary from these listed times based on "call
priority."

SUMMARY:
If Kerr and Kendall County wish to contemplate an alternative to the established response
agencies, they should consider the following:
1. Emergency services should come from the quickest location
2. An interlocal very much like Falling Water/The Reserve would be required. The
interlocal would:
a. define all primary and secondary responding agencies
b. define responding agencies' roles and responsibilities
c. define response compensation methodologies
d. define new ESN boundaries
e. would have to be approved by all affected jurisdictions and responding agencies
3. This process should be facilitated by jurisdictional points of contact (to be identified)
4. This process should start immediately (lots are available for sale now.)
