The American Legion Post 208 of Kerrville would like to bring back the Easter Festival and Chili Cook-off held at Flatrock Park on the river. We have already contacted CASI to secure the date of April 10, 11,12,2009. We are planning on keeping the festival true to past Easter festivals by including the Easter egg hunt, arts and crafts booths, live music, beer booths, washer tournament and of course the chili and b-b-q cook-off. Portions of the festival will benefit the various organizations that the American Legion, Sons of The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary sponsor in our community. We appreciate your consideration of this request and await the courts response at the earliest possible date. The purpose of this request is to promote a BBQ Cook off to raise funds for several of our charities to include but not limited to: VFW Veterans Service officers Fund, Tivy JrRotc, Hill Country Louth Ranch and a few others. Alternative date would be the 22~ tQ the 24'~ of May: Having participated in these sanctions cook offs for several years, I have seen any number from a law of 8 teams to a high. of 120. I would expect around 60 since so many like coming to the hill country, furthermore we are members of the "Lone Star BBC Society" that will be sanctiQnin~ this event throughout the state. Should we be allowed to use the park, the VFW will be responsible to seeing that the park is cleaned up after everyone leaves which will be on Sunday following our event. We plan on sponsoring several events for the public to include live music, raffles etc. that will be supervised by our members and members of the American Legion. As with all c€~ok offs I would expect the majority to bring coolers of beer, this will be policed. After 10pm we would like to close the gate so no one could enter or leave in a vehicle. Furthermore, I expect to call on my son, Lt. Scott Prout of the KCSO's ofFice to assist us in providing mobile security. (I haven't asked yet but his birthday is right around the corner!)
