This committee was established under i-. the authority of the Older Americans Act of 1965. E^ C' The purpose of the committee is to review the needs assessment and make recommendations to the ~- AACOG Board; to provide guidance and technical assistance; to review the annual budget and recommend approval; to provide public awareness on aging issues; and to act as-advocates in their { w appointed county. c% ~"i Coral Adema and Patrice Doerries are the current representatives from Kerr County. Membership is for a three- year term by appointment of the Commissioners' Court. w , ~ Coral Adema is a registered nurse with Peterson Hospice. She serves as a volunteer teaching a Matter of Balance. Coral has served since January of 2009 ~'" F,. Patrice Doerries is the Vice-Chair of the Senior Advisory Committee for AACOG and is the Senior Z CARES Coordinator for the Hill Country CARES non-profit in Kerrville. Patrice is a Master Trainer for "~' Stanford University's Medical School's Patient Education Program. Patrice has served since 2007. C ~ The Legislature has now provided a committee on aging for Texans and a Silver Alert Program similar to ~ Amber Alert. This annual conference brings professionals serving seniors together annually. The Inn of the Hills Resort and Conference Center will serve as the 6eadyuarters for this event with an anticipated 400 attending from around the state. The Texas Silver Haired Legislature will hold its annual meeting here at the same time The Assistant Secretary on Aging from Washington, DC will speak to the Conference. This conference will provide cutting edge information and education for professir~nals, administrators and the health- care industry.
