Dear Commissioners:
I hereby request that my budget be amended for the purpose of hiring a part time clerk
As you may remember, this was my initial request during the budget hearings, but due to
lack of support from the other JP's it was denied.
My request is based on the needs of this office. I hear approximately SO truancy cases
per month. Justice Court Pct. 1 hears all of the Truancy cases for KISD and Center Point.
The amount of paper work overwhelms my clerk. Commissioner Baldwin has witnessed
the volume of paperwork required in truancy issues. Our court also is responsible for all
Department of Public Safety Administrative Hearings.
I desperately need a part time clerk! The part time clerk would work 2 days per week at
$1 Q.OU per hour beginning in January 2009. This would require an increase of
approximately $6,240.00 over my existing budget.
