MARCH 23, 2009 KERR COUNTY COURTHOUSE Updates and Economic Recap January 2009 Business Recruitment: • 14 Economic Packets mailed or given in person in meetings at KEDF office. Packet materials include: Demographics, Kerrville Visitors Attitude Study Information, and Incentive Application. Most prospects inquires request a copy of the EDSP. KEDF has most of the material in digital form. ~ American Recovery and Reinvestment Bill Proposals for 2009 were received at KEDF office. Early January meetings/conference calls held with national elected official representatives. Information on economic stimulus bill distributed to Economic Partners. Local shovel-ready projects to stimulate local economy identified by Partners and application process begin. City of Kerrville, Kerr County and Kerrville/Kerr County Airport Board prepared possible projects that may be qualified for stimulus package. • Scheduled meeting (January 22) with City staff as requested by Village West Industrial Park Property owner/business Equitech. Company and many others are requesting waste water services into industrial park for possible expansion opportunities. KEDF was directed to explore and gather data on possible waste water load and initiate owner's level of participation for this possible project. Present for meeting Jim Price of Equitech, Interim City Manager Don Davis, Charlie Hastings, Mindy Wendele and Guy Overby. • Participated with Economic Partners and provided any resources to assist economic stimulus and or appropriations funding requests for 2010 Existing Industry Programs: • Extend welcome and meet new USDA Laboratory Knipland-Bushland Director Dr. Beto Perez deLeon. • Assisted the Kerrville Greater Alamo Community College Center in interviewing candidates for the site supervisor for the new workforce development training facility. Mr. Curtis Thomas was selected through this process and KEDF has been assisted in welcoming him to many organizations in the community. • Visit Top Ten existing industries/businesses, maintaining relationships and hearing any issues or concerns companies may have beginning in 2009.
