Thanks for your help and let me know if there are any questions. Office number is 210-362-5212 and my cell number is 210-542-0908. Judge Tinley, We are in the process of applying to TxDOT for a Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) grant. This is a Worforce/transportation related grant. The grant scope will cover the Counties of Kerr, Gillespie, Comal and Guadalupe. If these funds are awarded we can coordinate with communities in these counties to provide transportation options to people needing transportation for employment, searching for employment or for higher education or technical training opportunities. These transportation options could include vanpooling, limited shuttle service or an intra-city bus route. We are requesting a letter of support from the Kerr County Government to include in our application packet. I have attached a sample letter for your use. The grant application deadline is next Thursday 3-12-09. I am also contacting the City of Kerrville and the Kerr Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Foundation for their letters of support. Please contact me at 210-362-5212 should you have any questions. Thank you in advance for your consideration and support. Best regards, Joe R. 03/05/2009 Public Transportation Division Texas Department of Transportation Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) Grant Application To whom it ma}~ concern: Kerr County supports the proposal submitted by the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG), Alamo Area Development Council (AADC) and the Alamo Regional Transportation (ART) to create a regional transportation system that will provide much needed transportation services to the residents of Kerrville and the surrounding local areas. Residents on the low end of the socio-economic spectrum often find the lack of transportation options to be an insurmountable roadblock to finding or sustaining employment. From an overall economic perspective, increasing the availability of transportation options to individuals seeking employment or the opportunity to further their education in order to secure better and higher paying jobs will be a long term boost to the local economy as well as support the ongoing economic development efforts of our county . We are committed to working along side our regional partners to promote the success of the program in both the start up and sustaining phases of this project. We strongly support the proposed transportation programs that will be established by AACOG/AADC and ART through the JARC grant applied for and request your serious consideration of this proposal.
