BIOS AND ASSOCIATES PLLC www.riosredistricting.com rriosnrolandorioslaw.com January 6, 2010 Honorable Pat Tinley Kerr County Judge 700 Main Kerrville, TX 78028 RE: Redistricting of Commissioner Precincts and the upcoming decennial census. Dear Judge Tinley, In April of this year the Decennial Census will be taken starting the 2010 redistricting process. Census estimates and voter registration changes indicate that Kerr County will grow by approximately 6% (see enclosures); this means that you will have to redistrict your commissioner precincts. Our firm did the redistricting for over 100 jurisdictions during the last redistricting cycle. Enclosed is a partial list of past clients. Our experience is that the earlier you start the redistricting process the easier it is to prepare for the expected changes. Also, the more aware the community is of the upcoming census and redistricting process, the less likely it is that the undercount will result in unnecessary loss of state and federal funds. The purpose of this letter is to request a time when I can come by and make a presentation to the commissioners' court on the redistricting process. My office will be following up on this issue in case you would like for us to brief the commissioners on this matter. t Re s~~ "~ 1 n o L.
