It's 9 o'clock a.m. on January 1st, 2001. 8 I got that right for the first time. And we'd like to 9 welcome you all to this special meeting of the Kerr County 10 Commissioners Court. It's always a pleasure to gather on 11 the first day of a new year to officially swear in the new 12 elected officials and put them in a position to officially 13 and faithfully conduct the business of the people of Kerr 14 County, and we appreciate your attendance to mark this 15 celebration with us. At this time, if you would stand and 16 join me in a word of prayer, to be followed by the pledge of 17 allegiance. 18 (Prayer and pledge of allegiance.) 19 JUDGE HENNEKE: Thank you. First order of 20 business is to approve the bonds of Commissioners-elect. 21 Ms. Pieper, our Kerr County Clerk, are the bonds in order? 22 MS. PIEPER: Yes, sir, they are. 23 JUDGE HENNEKE: Do I have a motion to approve 24 the bonds of H. A. "Buster" Baldwin and Jonathan Letz? 25 COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: So moved. 4 1 COMMISSIONER GRIFFIN: Second. 2 JUDGE HENNEKE: Moved by Commissioner 3 Williams, seconded by Commissioner Griffin, that the Court 4 approve the bonds for Commissioner-elect Baldwin and 5 Commissioner-elect Letz. Karl got to do everybody last year, so I get my 8 chance to swear people in, and this is a real pleasure. 9 Let's do -- Bruce, I'm going to swear you in first. Bruce, 10 I think you're starting your fifth term; is that right? 11 MR. CURRY: Yes. 12 JUDGE ABLES: How the time flies. You're 13 doing a great job. It's a big job, 15 Rusty, and we appreciate what you're doing. Let me swear 16 you in. Do I have a 12 motion to that effect? 13 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: So moved. 14 COMMISSIONER LETZ: Second. 15 JUDGE HENNEKE: Moved by Commissioner 16 Baldwin, seconded by Commissioner Letz, that the Court 17 approve the request by Sheriff Hierholzer to appoint 37 18 deputies and pay them the salaries listed accordingly. Any 19 further questions or comments? Next item is 25 to acknowledge the existence and continuation of a blanket 11 1 bond in the Sheriff's Department. Ms. Pieper, is the 2 blanket bond in good order? 3 MS. PIEPER: Yes, sir, it is. 4 JUDGE HENNEKE: At this time, I'd entertain a 5 motion to approve the existence and continuation of the 6 blanket bond for the Sheriff's Department. 7 COMMISSIONER LETZ: So moved. 8 COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: Second. 9 COMMISSIONER GRIFFIN: Second. 10 JUDGE HENNEKE: Moved by Commissioner Letz, 11 seconded by Commissioner Williams, that the Court 12 acknowledge the existence and continuation of the blanket 13 bond in the Sheriff's Department.
