"BUSTER" BALDWIN, Commissioner Pct. 1 24 WILLIAM "BILL" WILLIAMS, Commissioner Pct. 2 JONATHAN LETZ, Commissioner Pct. 3 25 DAVE NICHOLSON, Commissioner Pct. 4 2 1 On Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at 1:30 p.m., a special 2 meeting of the Kerr County Commissioners Court was held in the 3 Commissioners' Courtroom, Kerr County Courthouse, Kerrville, 4 Texas, and the following proceedings were had in open court: 5 P R O C E E D I N G S 6 JUDGE TINLEY: Let me call to order the 7 special Commissioners Court meeting scheduled for this time 8 and date, Tuesday, September 21st, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. The 9 agenda item today is a public hearing, so I will recess the 10 Commissioners Court meeting, and I will open a public 11 hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2004-2005 tax rate for 12 Kerr County. Is there any member of the public that wishes 13 to be heard concerning the proposed Fiscal Year 2004-2005 14 tax rate for Kerr County? If so, you're privileged to come 15 forward at this time and give us your thoughts on it. 16 (No response.) 17 JUDGE TINLEY: There being no one coming 18 forward, I will close the public hearing on the proposed 19 Fiscal Year 2004-2005 tax rate for Kerr County. I would 20 note that, according to the schedule that's been provided by 21 our Tax Assessor/Collector, there will be notice posted -- 22 or published, actually, for a meeting to adopt the proposed 23 tax rate for September 30th. That's a Wednesday. Have we 24 ascertained a specific time for that yet, gentlemen? 25 COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: I don't know it, if 9-21-04 3 1 we have. 2 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: The 30th? 3 JUDGE TINLEY: 30th, yes. That's on a 4 Wednesday. 5 MS. RECTOR: Just give me a time. 6 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: 10 o'clock? That's 7 kind of a round number that we always use. 8 JUDGE TINLEY: All right. 9 COMMISSIONER LETZ: 10 o'clock? 10 COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: 10 o'clock. 11 JUDGE TINLEY: If you'll get the appropriate 12 notice published -- 13 MS. MITCHELL: Excuse me, Judge. 14 September 30th is on a Thursday. 15 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: That's correct. 16 JUDGE TINLEY: A thousand pardons. 17 COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: Thursday or Friday? 18 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: It's Thursday. 19 MS. MITCHELL: Thursday. And you do have 20 hearings. I've got your schedule; I brought it in just in 21 case. 22 JUDGE TINLEY: Okay. 23 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: Do you have mine? 24 JUDGE TINLEY: It might be better if we set 25 that over for about 10:30, in case my probate hearings take 9-21-04 4 1 a little longer than what I anticipate. Normally, I'd be 2 through by around 10:00, but in case they take a little bit 3 longer. 4 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: Adopt tax rate. 5 JUDGE TINLEY: 10:30, yes. Did you get that 6 correction, Ms. Rector? Ms. Rector? 7 MS. RECTOR: I'm sorry, I was asking her 8 about the budget on file. You know that you have to adopt 9 the budget prior to adopting the tax rate? 10 JUDGE TINLEY: Mm-hmm. 11 MS. RECTOR: Okay. 12 JUDGE TINLEY: That's -- the budget's going 13 to be on the agenda for the 27th. 14 MS. RECTOR: 27th for adoption of the budget? 15 JUDGE TINLEY: Mm-hmm. 16 MS. RECTOR: And it's at 10:30 on 17 September 30th -- 18 JUDGE TINLEY: Yes, ma'am. 19 MS. RECTOR: -- for adoption of the rate? 20 JUDGE TINLEY: For the adoption of the tax 21 rate. 22 MS. RECTOR: Thank you. 23 JUDGE TINLEY: And notice will be published 24 accordingly. Anything further? 25 COMMISSIONER LETZ: Just for all the members 9-21-04 5 1 of the public, I wanted to mention that the tax rate is 2 unchanged from last year at .3721, the total tax rate for 3 the County. 4 JUDGE TINLEY: Yeah. I've got -- we have 5 copies available for anybody that would like to look at 6 those, and the breakout into the various portions of the 7 various funds in our budget and the allocation of that tax 8 rate. Be happy to provide copies to anyone who has an 9 interest. Anything further? We'll stand adjourned.
