We 10 have one item on the agenda, and that is interview candidates 11 or applicants for the Commissioners Court Coordinator/ 12 Administrative Assistant and discuss and take appropriate 13 action to make an offer or offers of employment to applicant 14 or applicants selected. It's indicated that this matter is to 15 be conducted in closed or executive session, so does any 16 member of the Court have anything to offer at this time in 17 open or public session before we go into closed or executive 18 session? If not, we will go out of open or public session at 19 10:05, and into closed or executive session for the purpose of 20 interviewing candidates. 21 (The open session was closed at 10:05 a.m., and an executive session was held, the transcript of which 22 is contained in a separate document.) 23 - - - - - - - - - - 24 JUDGE TINLEY: Okay. We -- we're back in open or 25 public session now. It is 12:58, it looks like. 11-20-06 4 1 COMMISSIONER LETZ: 11:58. 2 JUDGE TINLEY: Excuse me, 11:58. Before daylight 3 savings time, I guess I was safe. At this time, does any 4 member of the Court have anything to offer in open or public 5 session as a result of matters discussed in -- in closed or 6 executive session? 7 COMMISSIONER LETZ: Not at this time. 8 JUDGE TINLEY: Hearing nothing, we will stand in 9 recess, subject to the call of the Chair. 10 (Recess taken from 11:58 a.m. to 12:02 p.m.) 11 - - - - - - - - - - 12 JUDGE TINLEY: Okay, let's come back to order. We 13 were in recess. We're now in order again. Does any member of 14 the Court have anything to offer with respect to the agenda 15 item as published? 16 COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: Do you have any words for 17 us, Ms. Hyde? 18 COMMISSIONER LETZ: It's yes, right? 19 (Ms. Hyde nodded.) 20 COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: Okay. 21 COMMISSIONER LETZ: I make a motion that we offer -- 22 make the offer to -- 23 MS. HYDE: Jody Grinstead. 24 COMMISSIONER LETZ: -- Jody Grinstead at a 19-3 step 25 and grade, which is 30,265. 11-20-06 5 1 COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: I will second that. Do we 2 have an understanding as to when she can be on board? 3 MS. HYDE: December 18th. That's a Monday. 4 JUDGE TINLEY: We have a motion and a second. Any 5 further question or -- 6 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: I have a question. Is there 7 a -- let me think of the terminology here -- a 6-month 8 probationary period? Is there -- is there such a thing? 9 COMMISSIONER LETZ: In our personnel policy? 10 MS. HYDE: You have a -- we're an at-will status in 11 addition to that, but yes, there is a 90-day and then a 12 6-month. And we are at will on both sides. 13 COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: On both sides. 14 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: Okay. 15 JUDGE TINLEY: Any further question or comment on 16 the motion? All in favor of the motion, signify by raising 17 your right hand. 18 (The motion carried by unanimous vote.) 19 JUDGE TINLEY: All opposed, same sign. 20 (No response.) 21 JUDGE TINLEY: The motion does carry.
