Let me call to order the special Commissioners Court 9 meeting posted and scheduled for this date and time, Tuesday, 10 July 20, 2010, at 1 p.m. It's a bit past that time now. The 11 item on the agenda is to open bids for energy-efficient air 12 conditioning units, energy-efficient lighting and/or lighting 13 components, and energy-efficient thermostats for jail and 14 courthouse building, refer bids for evaluation/recommendation 15 and award bids. A man with a sharp knife will go to work 16 here. They don't trust me with a knife; they figure I'll cut 17 myself. They're right. 18 COMMISSIONER OEHLER: Wouldn't go very deep, Judge. 19 JUDGE TINLEY: Gee, thanks. 20 COMMISSIONER OEHLER: Got a sharp blade on it. 21 JUDGE TINLEY: First bid is from Hardin Heating and 22 Cooling. The bid from Hardin Heating and Cooling is 23 $69,825.23. Second bid is from Bosworth. It is for $78,182. 24 The last bid is from Airtech A/C and Heating, $69,000 even, 25 with an optional add-on for fresh air dampers for the jail 7-20-10 4 1 units of $4,500. Each of them specify a warranty. 2 COMMISSIONER LETZ: Judge, I move we accept all 3 bids and refer them to the Maintenance Department for 4 evaluation. 5 COMMISSIONER OEHLER: Second. 6 JUDGE TINLEY: Motion made and seconded to accept 7 all bids and refer to Maintenance Department for evaluation 8 and recommendation. Any question or discussion on that 9 motion? All in favor of that motion, signify by raising your 10 right hand. 11 (The motion carried by unanimous vote.) 12 JUDGE TINLEY: All opposed, same sign. 13 (No response.) 14 JUDGE TINLEY: That motion does carry. I 21 want to go ahead and recess the budget workshop, and I'm 22 going to reconvene the Commissioners Court meeting relative 23 to the one item on the agenda for today. Mr. Bollier, have 24 you had an opportunity to review the bids, and are you in a 25 position to make a recommendation to us? 7-20-10 5 1 MR. BOLLIER: Yes, sir, I've reviewed bids, and I 2 recommend that we go with Airtech. They are the cheapest 3 bid. 4 JUDGE TINLEY: And they do comply with the specs? 5 MR. BOLLIER: And they do comply with the specs. 6 JUDGE TINLEY: And that was $69,000 even? 7 MR. BOLLIER: Yes, sir, it was. 8 JUDGE TINLEY: Okay. 9 COMMISSIONER LETZ: Second. 10 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: So moved. 11 JUDGE TINLEY: I have a motion and a second to 12 accept the recommendation of the Maintenance Supervisor and 13 accept and award the bid to Airtech for the bid amount of 14 $69,000.
