"BUSTER" BALDWIN, Commissioner Pct. 1 JONATHAN LETZ, Commissioner Pct. 3 24 ABSENT: TOM MOSER, Commissioner Pct. 2 25 BOB REEVES, Commissioner Pct. 4 2 1 On Friday, May 15, 2015, at 9:00, a special meeting of 2 the Kerr County Commissioners Court was held in the 3 Commissioners' Courtroom, Kerr County Courthouse, Kerrville, 4 Texas, and the following proceedings were had in open court: 5 P R O C E E D I N G S 6 JUDGE POLLARD: Okay, it's Friday, May 15, 2015, at 7 9 a.m., and the Kerr County Commissioners Court is in 8 session. And Item 1.1 on the agenda is to canvass the 9 official election results for the May 9, 2015 Jail Bond 10 Election as per Texas Election Code, Section 67. I'd have to 11 read the Spanish carefully; Escrutinio de los resultados 12 oficiales de la elección para el 09 de mayo 2015 Cárcel Bonos 13 Electon según Texas Election Code Section 67. That's the 14 best I can do, guys. (Laughter.) 15 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: That's pretty good. You 16 have to get Letz or the new Auditor to do the German part of 17 it. 18 JUDGE POLLARD: Okay. I now propose -- this is the 19 proposed order for it, and I propose that I will make a 20 motion, then, and I'll read the order verbatim. 21 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: Okay. 22 JUDGE POLLARD: And then we'll pass it exactly as 23 written, having read it into the record exactly that way. 24 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: Okay. 25 JUDGE POLLARD: Is that okay with everybody? 5-15-15 canvass 3 1 COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: You bet. 2 JUDGE POLLARD: All right. This is the Order 3 Canvassing Election Returns. State of Texas, County of Kerr. 4 "Whereas the Commissioners Court of Kerr County, Texas, 5 hereinafter called the County, ordered an election to be held 6 in the county on May 9, 2015, on the proposition hereinafter 7 stated; and whereas, the Commissioners Court has investigated 8 all matters pertaining to said election, including the 9 ordering, giving notice, officers, holding and making returns 10 of said election; and whereas, the election officers have 11 held said election -- who held said election have duly made 12 the returns of the result thereof, and said returns have been 13 delivered to the Commissioners Court; Therefore, be it 14 ordered by the Commissioners Court of Kerr County, Texas, 15 that: 16 "1. -- these are the Findings. "The Commissioners 17 Court officially finds and determines that said election was 18 duly ordered, proper notice of said election was duly given, 19 proper election officers were duly appointed prior to said 20 election, said election was duly held, the County has 21 complied with the Federal Voting Rights Act and the Texas 22 Election Code, due returns of the result of said election 23 have been made and delivered, and the Commissioners Court has 24 duly canvassed said returns, all in accordance with law and 25 with the order calling the election. 5-15-15 canvass 4 1 "2. Bond proposition canvass. The Commissioners 2 Court officially finds and determines that the following 3 votes were cast at said election on the submitted proposition 4 by the resident qualified voters of the county who voted at 5 the election," the proposition being, "The issuance of 6 $15,000,000 of bonds to finance an expansion of the County 7 Jail and to renovate and make other improvements to the 8 County Jail, and levying the tax in payment thereof." 9 The record of votes was that proposition, 1,711 10 votes for, and opposed to it, 998 are against it. 11 Paragraph 4, Election Results. "The Commissioners 12 Court officially finds, determines, and declares the result 13 of said election to be that the proposition so submitted has 14 received a favorable majority vote in all respects and has 15 carried. Approved by the Commissioners Court of Kerr County, 16 Texas, at a special meeting held on this, the 15th day of 17 May, 2015." That's my motion.
